WHO AM I?
Welcome to Merzouga Birding. My name is Moha, a local birding guide from the Merzouga area, near the Erg Chebbi dunes in southeast Morocco.
Merzouga Birding is created to help visitors discover the quiet side of the Sahara, where desert birds, beautiful landscapes, and local knowledge come together.
The story behind Merzouga Birding
Merzouga Birding started from a simple love for the desert and its wildlife. Growing up in Merzouga, I learned the hidden places where birds come to drink, rest, and feed around the dunes, seasonal lakes, palm groves, and rocky desert areas.
After many years of guiding visitors in the region, I created Merzouga Birding to share this quieter side of the Sahara with birdwatchers, photographers, and nature lovers. The goal is simple: to offer honest, local, and respectful birding experiences around Erg Chebbi.

Why Go Birding With Me?
At Merzouga Birding, the experience is simple, honest, and personal. We do not offer rushed tours. We focus on giving you enough time to enjoy the birds, take photos, and experience the desert calmly.
Our birding trips are suitable for both beginners and experienced birdwatchers. You do not need to be an expert to join us. If you love nature, birds, photography, or quiet desert landscapes, you are welcome.
We usually use a 4×4 vehicle to reach different birding spots around Merzouga. Many trips start early in the morning, often around sunrise, because this is one of the best times to see bird activity, especially near water areas where sandgrouse may come to drink.
